An introduction to World War 2!

Today we had a special guest in the classroom!

Adrian Warrell came in to our class to talk to the children about what life was like for the people living in Britain during the war, especially the children. He had lots of wonderful artifacts for the children to handle such as a real incendiary bomb (deactivated of course!), a gas mask, and all the items that you would expect to find in an evacuee's suitcase (ration book, identity card, hat, half a kitkat, morse code set, marble, shorts, tank top, teddy with toy gas mask, puzzle book, photo of mum and dad and, of course, a gas mask for the child.

Visit to Museum of Norwich - The Bridewll Museum (part 2)

Exploring each part of the museum...

Visit to Museum of Norwich - The Bridewell Museum

The children had a fantastic time at the museum and we all learned so much about the history of Norwich.
Both groups were fascinated by the objects shown to them during the workshop.

They found out about the Norwich hat maker, Rumsey Wells and the famous 'doggie cap'.

Does this picture remind anyone else of a character from Oliver Twist?

As you can see they enjoyed trying the hats on!
