World Book Day Fun!

My goodness, what a fun-filled day we’ve had!  The Cheetahs and Panthers joined together today for some book-worm fun.  You all looked fantastic in your creative costumes!  I hope you enjoyed listening to Make Up Mess, by my favourite Canadian children’s author, Robert Munsch.

We kicked off the morning with a bookmark making competition.  Congratulations to Sam, Ethan E., William, Jade and Gracie for their winning designs!  We had a very hard time choosing from such a stylish array of designs!

The children had fun hunting for all of the Wally characters around the school & Bethany was the first to report all of the sightings- way to go!

We also did some creative story writing in the form of Mad-Libs, which resulted in some very entertaining, silly short stories!  Can you have a go at creating your own for friends and family to fill in?  There are lots of websites that you can play on as well!  Check out some of the funny results we had this morning:

A) Photo Shoot

Say 'ham,' the photographer said as the camera flashed! Oliver and I had gone to the beach to get our photos taken today. The first photo we really wanted was a picture of us dressed as  chickens pretending to be a You-Tuber. When we saw the proofs of it, I was a bit happy because it looked different than in my head. (I hadn't imagined so many footballs behind us.) However, the second photo was exactly what I wanted. We both looked  magical wearing hats and running--exactly what I had in mind!

Say 'doughnuts,' the photographer said as the camera flashed! Rosie and I had gone to Tagmahi to get our photos taken today. The first photo we really wanted was a picture of us dressed as cheetahs pretending to be nurses. When we saw the proofs of it, I was a bit excited because it looked different than in my head. (I hadn't imagined so many glasses behind us.) However, the second photo was exactly what I wanted. We both looked colourful wearing skirts and hopping--exactly what I had in mind!

Say 'apples,' the photographer said as the camera flashed! Emma and I had gone tothe kitchen to get our photos taken today. The first photo we really wanted was a picture of us dressed as cats pretending to be chefs. When we saw the proofs of it, I was a bit emotional because it looked different than in my head. (I hadn't imagined so many tables behind us.) However, the second photo was exactly what I wanted. We both looked red wearing boots and running--exactly what I had in mind!

I just got back from a pizza party with Lucas. Can you believe we got to eat nice pizza in Chapelfields?! Everyone got to choose their own toppings. I made 'meat and sweets' pizza, which is my favourite! They even stuffed the crust with mints. How delicious! If that wasn't good enough already, John Cena was there singing Five Knights. I was so inspired by the music, I had to get up out of my seat and fix!

I just got back from a pizza party with Louie. Can you believe we got to eat hot pizza at Arsenal?! Everyone got to choose their own toppings. I made a 'burger and fruit' pizza, which is my favourite! They even stuffed the crust with chicken. How delicious! If that wasn't good enough already, Ed Sheeran was there singing Supermarket Flowers. I was so inspired by the music, I had to get up out of my seat and walk!

I just got back from a pizza party with Luke. Can you believe we got to eat sprinkled pizza in Santiago Bernabao?! Everyone got to choose their own toppings. I made an 'Oreo and doughnut' pizza, which is my favourite! They even stuffed the crust with doughnuts. How cool! If that wasn't good enough already, Lil Pump was there singing Gucci. I was so inspired by the music, I had to get up out of my seat and sing!

Hi my name is Miss Turner, but my friends call me Jumping Chair. My favourite colour is the colour of ladybugs and my favourite thing to do is bug people. My parents were an elephant and  a footballer, which is why we lived in a football stadium. You probably know me from my TV commercial for food. I'm the one who says,  'good night, sleep tight' at the very end!

Hi my name is Mrs. Pell, but my friends call me Swimming Teddy. My favourite colour is the colour of caterpillars and my favourite thing to do is talk. My parents were a horse and  a teacher, which is why we lived in the USA. You probably know me from my TV commercial for bracelets. I'm the one who says,  'I love teaching!' at the very end!

Hi my name is Mrs. Bush, but my friends call me Bobbing Cleaner. My favourite colour is the colour of butterflies and my favourite thing to do is run. My parents were an elephant and an artist, which is why we lived in Africa. You probably know me from my TV commercial for necklaces. I'm the one who says,  'aced it' at the very end!

Then we teamed up with friends to take part in a Book Quiz!  Emma/Alice, Kayleigh/Bethany & Mellissa/Lily certainly proved how well-read they are!  Very well done ladies!
Finally, after lunch the children took part in a Reading Stars Challenge where everyone had to collect stars by completing some fun and challenging reading tasks!  They laughed through trying to read a paragraph backwards, learned some new vocabulary from the dictionary, shared some of their best writing with their peers, searched for interesting facts in non-fiction books, searched for tasty recipes and investigated some opportunities to try new books!
We hope you all feel inspired to continue to enjoy reading and all of the wonderful fun you can have doing so!

Cheetahs Artwork!

As part of out work looking at Extreme Earth, the children found out about animals living in places with extreme weather conditions.
Using air dry clay, they made sculptures of their chosen animal.  These where then painted using acrylic paints.

Science!

Before half term the children were learning all about the different types of teeth that we have and how to look after them.

Every child had the opportunity to test their teeth cleaning skills using a brand new tooth brush and a disclosing tablet.  The disclosing tablet works by revealing plaque left on the teeth!  Take a look at these photos...!
