Times Tables Mosaics

With all of our preparations for Sports Day and the big event itself, the Cheetahs were treated to a relaxing Maths session on Thursday that also conveniently reinforced some good 'ol times tables skills!  They really enjoyed these!  Some children took some extra ones home to see what the different puzzles would create!  Take a look at these beauties:

Hopefully we'll see some more clever work as more children finish up the other kinds of puzzles we enjoyed! -Mrs. Pell

Monday
In the afternoon we did PE and RE.  This week we learned about the Creation Story and in PE we worked on sprinting to practice for Sports day.  We enjoyed it, but everyone is different so it was easy for some children and a challenge for others!
Thursday
We did sports day in the afternoon! We had races, a relay, sprinting, the obstacle course, the sack race and the egg and spoon race!  The Diamond team won the competition, but everyone had a great time!  It was a bit cold.  We liked all of the ribbons!
Friday
Today we practiced our spellings, after that we had lots of things to show in the Celebration Assembly:  some of our Cave Art, some research for the country we drew for The World Cup, and some of the boys in our class brought in their football trophies now that their season is finished.  We made our own bar charts in maths today, all about our favourite school dinners on the menu.  In English we had our Reading Test.  It was a super busy day!  There wasn’t much time for blogging!

Monday
In Maths we were translating shapes using co-ordinates. We first warmed up by doing some mental maths: converting fractions into decimals!

Tuesday
In English we were doing an explanation text about the Stone Age.  In Art we were blowing flowers up and creating a masterpiece!

Wednesday
In the afternoon we worked on our production, The Wizard of Oz.  We think the performance will be strikingly tremendous!

Thursday
We did a Science experiment where we had to test whether or not different objects created a shadow.  We shone a light at opaque, translucent and transparent objects to see what would happen!  It was very interesting!

Friday
Today in PE we played put shot.  We had to put the ball by our neck, rub it against our cheek, then throw it without touching our palms to the ball.  Otherwise it would have been a foul throw.  For the production we practiced Scences II and IV.  Our favourite song right now is If I Only Had the Nerve, because the way the Lion pronounces “nerve” is really funny!

Impressive Homework Projects!

Our class are so talented!  From artists, to historians, to scientists and culinary creationists, we have it all in Cheetahs class!  It was so hard to choose between all of the wonderful homework projects to post on our blog...  Have a look at this amazing array of talent:

Scientific diagram by Harlin

Cave Art by Alice
Historical Timeline by Libby
Just one sample of consistent Maths practice by Theo
Historic research by Boyd
Tantalizing menu by Oliver

A big pat on the back to everyone that worked so hard on their homework projects last half term!

Cheetah's Blog- Week in Review June 4th-8th by Ebony & Rosie

June 4th – 8th, 2018 by Ebony & Rosie
Monday
On Monday in Maths we learned about compass directions (N, S, E, W) around the class and we also had to explain them when talking about turns in degrees. In English we carried on with our story writing about the Stone Age. In RE we looked at the story of Creation and the word ‘temptation’.
Tuesday
We made a route grid and made instructions for a character.  We used directions such as 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees.  It was Maths and English at the same time!  At lunch time, we made sure everyone felt included in the games we were playing.  In English we edited our work by adding in time conjunctions such as: although, in the blink of an eye, a moment later…
Wednesday
For our Production, we started learning our lines by reading each scene together with the Panthers from the script.  We also practiced a song (Roar) which we loved because it is a song by Katy Perry!
Thursday
In Science we are learning about light sources.  Light can either be natural or man-made.  We had to sort out different types of light onto a Venn diagram.  For example, fire and a firefly make natural light, but a torch and a light bulb are man-made.  A mirror doesn’t make light, it reflects light!
Friday
Today we worked really hard on a special something for the Dads or other important male figures in our lives!  We’ll show you next week at our Father’s Day Assembly & then we’ll bring them home to give to you!  We hope you love it!

Monday
In PE we learned how to play cricket!  Mr. Sharp said we were already strong at using the bats. This week in English we were writing our own traditional tales.  And in Maths were are working on column addition and subtraction.
Tuesday
The middle and top groups were able to swim 25 meters this week!  The top group was also learning how to do the breast stroke.  The beginners were working hard on swimming on their own with armbands.  It was awesome!
Wednesday
We had a tricky task in the afternoon when we were making Stone Age jewellery out of clay.  It was hard because the clay was difficult to keep it wet enough to shape.  The most exciting thing about that afternoon was auditioning for our Production!
Thursday
Yesterday we were working on using our column maths skills to solve 2 step word problems. In Science we learnt about our muscles like biceps and triceps and we had a brilliant time. In Spanish we learnt words for food and cutlery. It was very hard to find the right words in the bilingual dictionary.
Friday
Today we carried on with our two step word problems but because the spicy was so easy some of us had to try something harder than the spicy one. We’re making the Spanish working display and everyone is working hard on the display! Our teacher, Mrs. Pell, teaches us Spanish and  we work hard in Spanish because we love it!
