Goodbye for now!

Here we are!  Summer time!  The children had been SO busy doing this and that in the last days of school...    But they also had the opportunity to let the creative juices flow.  They had been working on some activity booklets that contain a little bit of everything from a wide range of subjects and topics we have looked at this year.  I always find it interesting to see which activities they choose to do first, which ones excite them, and which pieces of work they deemed to be their favourite.  Best of all, the children have brought these booklets home so should there be any rainy days in the future, they have a little something extra to do for fun at home ;)

I must apologise Cheetahs, I had scanned a copy of all of your favourite pages from your booklets, but I simply cannot attach the files to the blog!  I've tried quite a few times to no avail!  I hope you enjoy sharing your workbooks with your family and having a go at something new!

Thank you all for a brilliant end to the year!  There were many, many tears all around, but that just goes to show how special and important we all are to each other!  Thank you all for your thoughtful words, cards and in some cases gifts- we shall treasure them along with all of the wonderful memories of our time together!

Play safely everyone and see you in September!

Catching up on our student blogs

Hello!  I've been so carried away showing off the work that the children have done that I've forgotten to post the last 2 weekly blogs some of the children have written!  Hope you enjoy them!

Cheetahs Blog: Week in Review
June 25th – 29th, 2018 by Jake & Lucas
Monday
In Maths we created bar charts to show our favourite sports, colours and ice cream flavours. In English we created a character description of a person living in Skara Brae- a Neolithic village in the Orkney Isles. In the afternoon we made drawings of Stone Age animals using chalk and charcoal.
Tuesday
In maths we created pictograms and discussed the importance of using a key. In English we planned a diary extract using a flowchart. In the afternoon we practiced our parts for the school play. Some of us made props.
Wednesday
In Maths we made a line graph to show changes in temperature in Catfield. In English we began to write our diary extracts. In the afternoon we did more play rehearsal.
Thursday
Federation Sports Day at Sutton! We took part in a variety of activities including: Dance, Archery, Forest Schools, Healthy Eating, and even a Circus Class!  The nature area at Sutton is incredible!  We compared how many grams of sugar are in various drinks and treats by pouring sugar into a cup and weighing it.  We compared it to a cup with the amount of sugar we are supposed to have in a day, it was scary how much sugar is in lots of things! In the circus class we spun plates, used diablo sticks and tried to juggle!  What a day!
Friday
Today we worked in groups to solve the mystery of the missing sack in Maths.

Cheetahs Blog: Week in Review
July 9th – 13th, 2018 by Marcus & Alice
Monday
We practiced the play until 11:35 then we had a 25 minute play!  We practiced to perfection in the afternoon as well!
Tuesday
We practiced the play until 11:35 then we had a 25 minute play!  Afterwards, we did what we usually do and practiced the play again…
Wednesday
Today we had our dress rehearsal while Sutton and Hickling schools were watching.  It was a non-uniform day, we dressed in red and white in support of England making it to the semi-finals.  After that we went outdoors and had our lunch.  Then we did what we usually do and practiced some key parts of the play. Hours later, we came back to the school after dinner for the evening performance!  The audience loved it!  There was a lot of cheering.  Then everyone RUSHED home to watch England play in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
Thursday
While we were all a little disappointed with the World Cup result, we all agree that Harry Kane could get the Golden Boot award and we are proud of how maturely our country played.  No dirty tricks, and hardly any yellow cards.  We have our fingers crossed for 3rd place now.  In the morning, we were all exhausted so we watched Ice Age together and Mrs. Pell put out some Spanish activities for us to do while it was on if we wanted to.  There was a Spanish weather fortune telling activity that we really loved amongst other things.
Friday
Today we worked on writing a special something for some special someones…  We can’t say who yet or it will spoil the surprise!  This afternoon we had a computing and PE lesson…  It was nice to feel a bit normal this afternoon!  And finally…  REPORT CARDS WENT HOME TODAY!  AGGGHHH!

Transition Days!

On Thursday and Friday this week we had to send 4 of our friends up to Mr. Hall's Panther class for a taster of life in Year 5!  But that left the remaining 16 Cheetahs to welcome our up and coming Year 3s...  Now our class is the largest in the school with 29 children!  So, how many Year 3s will we have in our class next year? Can you work it out?

We had so much fun together over the last two days!

On Thursday:
-The children played Snowstorm as a getting to know you activity
-Then we made a Class Book where each page contains everything we already know and love about each friend in our new class!  Everyone got to take home a copy of their own page to share with you!

-We then played Just Like Me to see what interests we all had in common!
-The children also made little booklets about their former teachers and TAs to let us know all about their best qualities that we can try to emulate.  Very interesting reads!  We have some big shoes to fill!
-Finally, we worked together to plan a bar graph of all of our birthdays for our classroom in September. The children worked in mixed groups of 3-4 and they did really well to use the data we collected.

On Friday
-The children did an AMAZING job working together as a whole class to put our birthday display together!  It looks fantastic and I will keep it safe over the summer while all of the improvements are happening at our school.  Thank you for your hard work Cheetahs!  Take a look at what they can already do together with excellent teamwork:

-We played a class favourite game of Who's Missing? and we also taught our new Year 3s how to play a favourite times tables game called Around the World.  Bobby has shown us already that he is a force to be reckoned with!
-Finally, the children wrote a Bucket List of various things they would like to do, try, or accomplish this summer!  More interesting reading for Mrs. Sales and myself!  The children have told us about things they would like to do, friends they hope to visit, things they need to organise, books they'd like to read, new things they want to try, places they hope to visit, a project they want to work on, a collection they want to start and school skills they think they should practice over the summer!

We are very excited about our new class full of colourful characters!  It's going to be a hoot!  See you all next week as we wrap up our current year!
