Here are a few more pictures from last week when we had our special visitor in to talk to the children about WW2.  In the afternoon, children took part in a workshop of 4 activities.  They learnt how to milk a cow the same way the women's land army did; they played with authentic 1940s toys, dressed up in different uniforms (naval, RAF, fire fighters etc); and they tried on different style gas masks!

Super Star Spellers!

The children have amazed me this week with their high spelling scores, showing that they are really rising to the challenge!  I am particularly proud of everyone who managed to beat their previous week's score (which was quite a few!) and of those children who managed to score top marks: Harlin, Princess, Jack, Ebony, and Boyd.

In Maths this week we have been learning all about money!  We started off by making sure everyone knew the values of the different coins before moving on to look at different ways of making one amount.  We also looked at converting between pence and £.p!

An introduction to World War 2!

Today we had a special guest in the classroom!  

Adrian Warrell came in to our class to talk to the children about what life was like for the people living in Britain during the war, especially the children. He had lots of wonderful artifacts for the children to handle such as a real incendiary bomb (deactivated of course!), a gas mask, and all the items that you would expect to find in an evacuee's suitcase (ration book, identity card, hat, half a kitkat, morse code set, marble, shorts, tank top, teddy with toy gas mask, puzzle book, photo of mum and dad and, of course, a gas mask for the child.
