Marvellous Maths

This week Cheetahs Class have been very busy learning all about different types of lines such as parallel, perpendicular, horizontal and vertical.  Then they moved on to exploring lines of symmetry in 2d shapes and symmetrical patterns.  The children were given the opportunity to explore symmetry in their own ways using a range of different materials and equipment.

As you can see from the photos, the children really excelled with this activity!  Some chose to use different shapes, some used chalks and pastels on black paper and others used cones.

The Ruthless Romans!

Our new topic 'The Ruthless Romans' is off to a great start!  The children have thought of some excellent ideas and questions they would like to investigate and have taken a lead on planning the topic - thinking about learning tasks linked to all areas of the curriculum.

This week our main focus has been on answering the key question: When and where did the Roman Empire begin.  Answering this question involved the children understanding how timelines work and how to sequence key event chronologically.

The task involved a great deal of teamwork, problem solving and maths skills!
Fantastic work Cheetahs!
